Diet Principles for Kidney Cyst Patients
It has been proved that improper diet can cause kidney cysts and worsen the illness conditions, so it is very important to have reasonable diets so as to help consolidate the curative effect of the treatment and help prevent further kidney damages and speed up the recovery.
Foods that kidney cyst patients should avoid: hot and excitant foods such as hot pepper, onion , etc; beer, wine and other alcohols; smoking and as well as passive smoking; chocolate and coffee; sea foods such as sea fish, shrimp and crabs; too salty foods especially the salted foods; polluted foods and left-over; grilled foods.
Foods that should be controlled:
1. Control the intake of protein. Modern medical thinks that it is not conducive to the kidneys, no matter too much intake or inadequate intake of protein. High quality and low protein diets such as proper amount of milk, egg white and lean meat are all good choice. Reasonable intake of protein can help reduce the kidney’s burden and the production of metabolic wastes.
2. Control the intake of salt: the intake of salt should be adjusted to the patient’s illness condition and remaining kidney functions, not all the chronic kidney disease patients need to have strict restriction on the intake of the salt.
3. Control the intake of water: This is not strict and it also depends on the patient’s illness and physical conditions. In case of simple renal kidney cysts, the metabolic wastes can’t be discharged out of the body due to the dysfunction of the kidney concentration ability. So if the patients have no obvious edema, heart failure and hypertension, there is no need to restrict the intake of water.
Generally speaking, kidney cyst patients should have fresh, light and nutritious diet. More fresh vegetables and fruits should be eaten more.
