Can Kidney Cyst Patients Do Exercises

Kidney cyst is a common kind of kidney disorder and it is in most cases a fluid-filled sac in the kidneys. Since the cysts will enlarge gradually and when the cyst is too large and the patients can sense obvious lump in the belly. In such case, the patients will be so worried that they want to know whether they can do exercises or not. Generally speaking, kidney cyst patients should try to avoid doing strenuous exercises and physical traumas in the abdomen. Strenuous activities and physical trauma will cause the cysts to rupture and then cause infections and even rapid fall of renal functions and many other serious consequences.
When the cyst is smaller than 40mm, patients can do some safe exercises because the pressure caused by the cysts is not that big and some mild and gentle exercises are conducive for the patients. However the strenuous exercises and sports such as football and basketball should be avoided.
As the gradual enlargement, the cyst will cause great pressure to the kidneys and other organs. As a result, the patients will have a series symptoms and complications. When the cysts are larger than 40mm, drastic activities will cause the cysts to rupture. In case of cyst rupture, patients will suffer a lot including shivering, fever, sharp pains and blood in urine.
In a word, whether the kidney cyst patients can do exercises or not depends on the patient’s illness and physical conditions. When the cyst is small in size, some mild exercises like walking, tai chi are good for the patients. In case of large cysts, more attention should be paid to prevent any damage to the renal area. In case of hematuria and infections, it is recommended that the patients stay at bed and seek proper treatment and nursing cares as soon as possible.
