Hypertension And Polycystic Kidney Disease

Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a systemic hereditary disorder characterized by renal and extrarenal involvement with cystic and noncystic manifestations . Hypertension is an early and frequent finding of PKD, occurring in approximately 60% of the patients before the renal function has become impaired . Hypertension has an important impact on the morbidity and mortality of these patients. PKD patients with hypertension have a more rapid loss of renal function . Moreover, hypertension is an important risk factor for cardiovascular death, the most frequent cause of mortality in PKD patients .
Polycystic kidney disease is the most common inherited kidney disease, characterized by gradual and progressive cyst growth and renal enlargement, resulting in a decline in kidney function and the development of renal failure. Hypertension is common and occurs early, prior to the loss of renal function, with 29 years being the mean age of diagnosis. The pathophysiology of hypertension is multifactorial and is characterized by hyperactivity of the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system, activation of the sympathetic nervous system and endothelial dysfunction. Early antihypertensive therapy appears to postpone the development of renal failure and cardiovascular events in this disorder. This chapter reviews the epidemiology, pathophysiology and management of hypertension in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.
Polycystic kidney disease isn’t limited to your kidneys, although the kidneys usually are the most severely affected organs. The disease can cause cysts to develop in your liver and elsewhere in your body.
A common complication of polycystic kidney disease is high blood pressure. Kidney failure is another common problem for people with polycystic kidney disease.
Polycystic kidney disease varies greatly in its severity, and some complications are preventable. Lifestyle changes and medical treatments may help reduce damage to your kidneys from complications, such as high blood pressure.

Right Diet For Polycystic Kidney Disease

Right Diet For Polycystic Kidney Disease
Polycystic kidney disease causes many cysts (fluid-filled sacs) to develop in the kidneys. The most common type is an inherited condition called autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). With ADPKD, problems commonly do not develop until the age of 30-50, with some people never developing any problems. The two common problems that develop are high blood pressure and kidney failure. About half of people with ADPKD develop kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant by the age of 60.
All the renal diets we discussed before exhibited similar differences. And a PKD diet is no exception. The following components are common to all renal diets we already discussed:
High blood pressure is a consequence of PKD, further straining the ability of diseased kidneys to function properly. As a result, salt and salty foods will cause further strain and so one of the fundamental features of a polycystic kidney disease diet is the intake reduction of this harmful compound.
Water was already shown to be beneficial in other diets discussed in this blog. In a polycystic kidney disease diet, drinking water becomes even more important.
If you have PKD, oxalic acid is something you'll want to avoid. (Kidney, Urologic, and Blood Diseases, National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, Feb. 2001). Oxalic acid is a chemical compound found in certain vegetables. The body has no known use for it and when the kidneys and liver are functioning well they flush it out of your system with no problem. When you're trying to avoid putting extra strain on your kidneys, though, it's best to stay away from foods that contain higher amounts of oxalic acid. Some major sources are spinach, rhubarb, beets, eggplants, and cocoa. So, you have a good excuse to avoid eating your spinach, but you really should cut back on chocolate, too.

What is the treatment of PKD disease

My husband has PKD and is seeing a Nephrologist in our town, however in doing some research I found a specialist in a nearby city that specializes in PKD and is recommended by the KidneyFoundation. the problem is his doctor won t give him a referral. I even went back to the original doctor that made the diagnosis but his office said he can t give the referral because it s been over two years since the original doctor has seen him. HELP! PKD is genetic kidney disease, so if we find a treatment which can eradicate PKD, our children will be free from this disease. However, how to eradicate PKD?
Actually, not every person with PKD gene will definitely suffer this disease. For some people, they may live with PKD gene for a life-long time without have any kidney damages. Although this case is rare, it exists truly.
Once PKD occurs, it is almost impossible for us to eradicate radically, because we have no methods to remove all the cysts from kidneys. Surgery is the traditional treatment for PKD and it treats PKD through breaking big cysts. We know PKD means there are countless cysts in the kidneys and surgery only can remove several cysts in one time, so it is impractical for us to eradicate PKD through surgery.TREATMENT TRE
As for treatment for PKD, Immunotherapy is worth trying. Immunotherapy combines Chinese medicines and Stem Cell Treatment which are separately applied to shrinking cysts and increasingrenal functions.

Natural Treatment For PKD Kidney Disease

Our PKD Clinic is a specialized kidney disease hospital in China. For PKD disease, it is acommon disease in our hospital. We treat this kind of kidney disease by the method of Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Immunotherapy and Stem Cell Transplant. At present, the Immunotherapy and Stem Cell Transplant are the most advanced medical technology in treating kidney disease. Many patients from different countries came here to receive this series of Chinese traditional medicine treatment and all of them get good results.
Stem Cell treatment as a new medical treatment technology has been gradually applied to clinical. Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC), in particular, has become the hot topic of research due to its advantages of wide source, easy separation and no restraint in ethics. At present, kidney disease is recognized as immune mediated inflammation. Traditional treatment including hemodialysis cannot reverse the aggravation of kidney function. Due to various reasons, the clinical use of kidney transplant is also limited. Therefore, in order to find a new treatment method with significant effect, research on MSC in treating kidney disease has drawn the attention of people and many studies have been done. This paper makes a simple description of the development of using MSC to treat kidney disease since 2005. The results show that MSC has the potential of differentiating into kidney tissues and cells and take part in the regeneration and repair after the kidney damage. The stem cells can not only differentiate into various renal intrinsic cells including glomerular endothelial cells, mesangial cells, sertoli cells and renal tubular epithelial cells, but also strengthen the ability of differentiating into the above cells by promoting renal secretion. It can also release the inflammatory reaction of the damaged kidneys and plays an important role in repairing the kidneys.
The Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy mainly plays two roles in treating Polycystic Kidney Disease :
Expand the blood vessels on the walls of blood vessels around the cyst, speed up the blood circulation of cyst walls, thus enhancing the permeability of the cyst walls. Decline the internal pressure in the blood vessels of the cyst walls, reverse the differential pressure --- the pressure in the blood vessels is higher than the pressure in the cyst. Speed up the continuous reabsorption of the moisture from the cyst fluid to the blood vessel.
The active substances of the Micro-Chinese Medicine restrain the continuous secretion of the epithelial cells on the cyst walls, stop the continuing enlargement of the cyst and the blood vessels of cyst walls. The above treatment improved the condition of circulation disorder of walls of blood vessels and the cysts., softened the cyst walls, enhanced the permeability of the cyst walls to the outside and restrained the secretion function of the cells of cyst walls. This kind of treatment is regarding as the most natural treatment in the medical field. Because it is all herbal medicine and also not a kind of oral taken medicine, it is no any harm to the human body.

Alternate Medications Treatment For Stage 3 Polycystic Kidney Disease

PKD is caused by the renal tubules epithelial cells proliferation and metamorphosis which to form the cyst wall. And the liquid in the cyst is original urine and some liquid which secreted by the cyst wall. To treat the renal cyst effetely, what we should do is to expand blood vessels, speed up blood circulation on cysts walls, and improve the permeability of the cysts. Therefore, the cyst liquid will be reabsorbed and discharged out with blood circulation, thus to make the cysts shrunk and decreased.
As we mentioned that Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, the active ingredients of Chinese medicine can restrain the proliferation of renal epithelial cells until it stops secreting. When the internal pressure of the cyst declined, the cyst wall will get softer and the size of the cyst will gradually become smaller, thus relieving the compression of the tissues around, improving microcirculation, and blocking the progressing of renal fibrosis. Besides, the cysts are not easy to recur after disappearance, and the symptoms will thoroughly disappear. As you said your husband’s kidney disease is at the 3rd stage, touch his stomach around his kidney area, it must be very hard, right?
To shrink the renal cysts is necessary, at this stage of kidney disease, what else we need to do is to repair the damaged kidney tissues which are damaged by pressing of the cysts. What the advantage of treating this kind of disease is the damage of his kidneys is caused by the cysts pressing, so once the cysts stopped enlarging, the damage of his kidneys will be stopped. The only problem left is his immunity has got lower at this stage of kidney disease, so that we also need to improve his immunity by some other kinds of herbal medicine.
There is a 62 years old patient from British just discharged from our hospital, and he found out his PKD 30 years ago, and his waistline has shortened from 93.5cm to 88.4cm when he left hospital on 9th this month after had been received the treatment for 20 days. His blood pressure kept stable at 120/85 without medicines and when he came his blood pressure was 130/90. He said he felt his stomach got softer after receiving the Osmotherapy for 10 days, and there were lots of white stuff discharged to his urine which are stones and those toxic substances which kidneys cannot discharge properly. What’s more, as he also has prostate problem, his nocturia was improved a lot as he had gone to use the toilet 3-4 times every night before and he went to the bathroom 1 time or even no need to get up at night after the treatment.

Protein In Urine in PKD

Why do people with PKD can find that there is protein in urine, which looks foam? And seeing this, they usually become nervous and be a little afraid of the harm it may cause if the protein can not be stopped from leaking out. Besides clearing this anxiety, we will also recommend you an effective treatment method for you, which can stop the leaking out of the protein from root.
Firstly, let’s have a detailed explanation about the reason why there is protein in urine. Generally, for a normal person, there is only a little amount of protein leaking out every day because protein belongs to bigger molecules compared with creatinine, urea acid and blood urea acid and so on. With time passing by, cysts which have grown up began to press the renal intrinsic cells and tissues around them, thus causing damage in the renal cells, including renal glomerular basilar membrane and filtration membrane, in which there are pores. If the pores are bigger than the normal range, there will be bigger molecules which leaks out, such as protein, red blood cells, which form proteinuria and hematuria separately.
Since that we have figured out the reasons, we should next focus on the treatment of protein in urine. In western countries, during these years, protein in urine has been inhibited by hormones and suppressive agent for a long time for PKD is regarded as immune disease. And these two kinds of medicine are widely used in western countries to stop the excessive immune response. However, they can not treat PKD fundamentally and after infection, the symptoms will recur, which make PKD patients feel headache.
In PKD Clinic , the experts recommend you to regard the combination of Chinese medicine and western medicine as a priority, which is called Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy and Immunotherapy. The former is necessary and the latter is up to the specific condition.
Active materials in Micro-Chinese Medicine will play roles in the surface of the cysts, extend the blood vessels in blood walls around, accelerate the blood circulation of the cysts wall, increase the permeability of the cyst wall, decline the inner pressure and accelerate the reabsorption of water in cysts to blood vessels, thus shrinking the cysts. In this case, damage to renal glomerular filtration membrane can also be stopped.
In addition, there are also damaged intrinsic cells which we should let alone. In Micro-Chinese Medicine, the nutritious materials can also repair the damaged ones and the protein in urine will disappear for ever after this.
When should PKD patients use Immunotherapy ? PKD patients in all levels all can try Immunotherapy, which increases the immune ability of patients. If they develop into renal failure stage, the transplantation of Immunotherapy becomes more necessary for in kidney failure stage, there are even necrotic cells which can lead to atrophic kidney, which is the advanced stage of renal fibrosis and if not controlled well, patients have to receive dialysis and even kidney transplant. Immunotherapy is the latest and effective treatment for FSGS. Immunotherapy are initial cells with strong self-renewing and multi-differentiation abilities. They are infused into human body through intravenous injection, and then Immunotherapys will transfer into the kidney lesions by auto-homing function. Immunotherapy can adjust the immune disorder by change the genes and repair the damaged glomeruli by generating into new renal intrinsic cells to replace the necrotic ones.
So from the above, we can get a conclusion that the medical technology is developing so fast, which can give PKD patients hope and we should be confidence in fighting with it. To diminishing protein in urine is also not so scaring as we imagined before.

Progressive Stages of Polycystic Kidney Disease

Polycystic Kidney Disease is a kind of genetic kidney disease. It is acknowledged that the development of PKD can be divided into five stages.
Emergence stage of Polycystic Kidney Disease
As PKD is inheritable, patients usually be born with cysts, but the cysts are too small to be easily discovered. In most cases, the cysts are difficult to be found before the patients are 20 years old. So if you have a relative who suffers from Polycystic Kidney Disease, you should go to hospital for a careful examination as early as possible. Once cysts are discovered, you need pay attention to their growth.
Growing stage of Polycystic Kidney Disease
When patients are during 30 to 40 years old, cysts will have a faster growth. At this period, there is no effective treatment in western medicine, which only takes symptomatic treatment. However, some traditional Chinese Medicine can stop or delay the growing of cysts by promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. In this period, traditional Chinese medicine can play a key role in prolonging patients’ life.
In patients’ forties, cysts will have a further enlargement. Cysts of this period are over 4cm but have no diabrosis. A lot of clinical symptoms will appear, such as lumbago, proteinuria, hematuria, and high blood pressure. This is a crucial period for treatment through combing traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine. Chinese medicine can wipe off the cystic fluid and make cysts shrink.
Diabrosis stage of Polycystic Kidney Disease
If cysts continue to grow, they may burst under some influence of external causes. In such conditions, patients need to be hospitalized immediately. Pay attention to the control of infection, as well as avoid ichorrhemia and acute deterioration of renal function.
Uremia stage of Polycystic Kidney Disease
This stage usually need peritoneal dialysis or hemodialysis, as renal function is seriously damaged. In this period, patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease lose most of their renal function.
If you are diagnosed as Polycystic Kidney Disease, you need pay close attention to the progress of your disease and take effective treatment as early as possible, in order to prevent it from developing into Uremia.

Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital Treat Polycystic Kidney Disease

1. How many pkd patients has your hospital treated and what was their outcomes?
About 1750 PKD patients have been treated in our hospital. After treatments in our hospital, cysts became smaller and Creatinine level came to down, symptoms such as back pain, blood urine, were much improved. After consolidation treatments at home, they all got much better.
2. My creatinine is 295, hemoglobin is 110. what results can i expect after 1 month at your hospital?
During treatments at our hospital, creatinine level will come down, but how much it will come down depends on your physical condition and your sensitivity to Micro-Chinese medicine. Hemoglobin level will certainly increase. After three-month consolidation treatment at home, your Creatinine level is highly likely to come down within the normal range.
3. Is it possible for transplanted stem cells to affect other organs in my body such as heart, liver or brain?
No, it isn’t. Stem cells are undifferentiated or ‘blank’ cells found in the human body that have the potential to develop into many different cell types that carry out different functions. Most cells in the human body are differentiated. That means they are built to function in a particular organ system and carry out a specific function. A red blood cell, for example, is designed to carry oxygen, while a white blood cell is designed to fight off disease. These differentiated cells result from the process of cell division, a process that begins with undifferentiated stem cells. So stem cells won’t affect other organs in your body.
4. Is it possible for transplanted stem cells to cause tumors to grow ?
No, it isn’t. All of organs, tissues, and cells in body are all differentiated by stem cells, we can say we are the product of stem cells. Tumors are caused by various carcinogenic factors, stem cells won’t cause tumors.
5. Are the stem cells injected directly into the kidney or into an artery in the arm?
Stem Cell Transplant is intravenous injection, injected directly in the arm.
6. Is it possible for the cysts to return after the therapy is complete?
Cysts won’t grow any more. Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy have cleaned the internal environment of patients’ body, through dilating blood vessels, anti-inflammation, anticoagulation, preventing blood viscosity, degrading extracellular matrix. In such internal environment, cysts won’t grow any more.
7. Is your hospital considered to be a private clinic?
We are a private hospital, one of famous hospital in China.
8. Many clinics in china offer stem cell therapy, what makes your hospital better than the others?
Yes, many clinics offer Stem Cell Transplant, even in other countries, there are Stem Cell Transplant, but Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy is put forward by the experts in our hospital, only belong to our hospital. Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy make our hospital have incomparable advantages over other hospitals.
9. Is this therapy at your hospital regulated by the Chinese Ministry of Health?
Yes, of course. We are doctors, we center on and take charge of patients in our hospital. Without the support from Chinese Ministry of Health, how can we receive a good reputation from patients and become a famous kidney disease specialized hospital?
David, pls note I suggest you accept the joint application of Stem Cell Transplant and Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy. Just as I mentioned in first email and above, if you only accept Stem Cell Transplant, the treatment results are not desirable.

How To Treat Cyst On Kidney Grown With PKD Patients

PKD means you have many cysts grow on your kidneys. With age become old, the kidney cysts will become bigger, and then press the kidney tissues and damage the kidney function. At that time, patients will present the symptoms like foam in urine, hematuria, dizziness, swelling, backpain, fatigue etc. With the kidney cysts become big enough, the patients will secrete the cystic liquid which is very easy to get infection in the kidneys. The final result of PKD is kidney failure.
Kidneys are very different from other human organs, the clinical symptoms always lag behind the pathological damage. For example, some patients with PKD present backpain, fatigue, high blood pressure, which means the kidneys have already get damaged. But for other patients, they don't have any discomfort feelings, when they go to the hospital for checking, they are diagnosed as the kidney failure. Most people will shocked by this result. Therefore, if the patient is in the stage of CKD3( Chronic Kidney Disease 3), the patient should receive the CKD4 treatment to protect the kidneys and delay the development of kidney disease.
When the patient become old, the kidney cysts also grow with the age. When the kidney cysts become bigger and bigger, they not only press some kidney tissues, but also the biggest kidney cyst will secrete cystic liquid which is very easy to get infection in the kidneys, and cause the complications of PKD.
Normally, Western medicine will follow these steps to treat polycystic kidney: 1) wait the cysts become enough big. 2.) 95% anhydrous alcohol is inputted into renal cysts for solidifying capillary, and then liquid can't go into renal cysts.3) abstract the cystic liquid from renal cyst-----this operation may be called puncture. Please notice that these measures will damage the kidney, especially for the nephron which is the basic part of kidney. At present, Western Medicine just treat the symptoms of kidney, they can't treat the disease from the root, because surgery not only damage the kidney function, but also the kidney cysts will grow after the surgery.

Chinese Medicine For Polycystic Kidney Disease With Creatinine 4.7

How are you ? thank you for your time this morning i calld you from London and you ask me to email you . i have got your email from my brother . my brother email addres is fikrumammo@gmail.com . we try to get som information about micro-chines medicine osmotherapy for my mum. on your email you ask us some informationt my mum leaves in Ethiopia but at this time she is in USA she is going back to ethiopia the end of the month . she is 62 she have kidney disease her creatinine is 4.7 now her symtoms are very poor appetite, weight loss, muscle cramps feeling very tired . and she have blood pressure and they give her medication for her kidney and she developed diabetes now . please we need your healp as soon as poseble . and if you can , can you pleas email me 1 how long did she need to stay in there 2 how long it will take the treatment 3 how much is the cost 4 what is the hospital addres 5 how we get there .
You said her creatinine level was 4.7. Frankly speaking, this value means: 1. her nephrons have been damaged more than 70%. 2. there are high toxins depositing in her body, that is why she does not want to eat foods and always feels very tired. Besides, she also has polycystic kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes. So, her whole body condition should need both your, your familes' and our full alert. Let alone the acute factors in daily life which can worsen the illness condition. If more and more toxins depositing the body, many other complications will occur, such as CVD(cardiovascular disease), UE(uremic encephalopathy), gastrointestinal disease, nervous system disease etc. which are very dangerous for life.
Now your mother needs a systemic treatment: 1. Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy to control her cysts' growth 2. oral Chinese herbal medicine, medicated bath, massage, acupuncture and moxibustion to repair her damaged glomerular cells and improve her kidney function. 3. Maikangheji plus sanqifen to improve her immunity balance.
To receive our systemic treatment, we suggest your mother stay in our hospital for 3-4 weeks and then take Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy home for the 3 months' consolidating treatment. According to other similar cases, the estimated total cost will be about 10,000-15,000 US dollars, which contains one month's hospital stay, examinations, treatment, medicine, accommodation, nursing service and others in hospital, and three months' Chinese medicine at home.

We don't suggest you take the beans, because this food contain more protein, which will increase the burden of glomeruli.
And not all the fruit and vegetables should be taken by you, because some fruits and vegetables contains more potassium, sodium etc, all the food should according to your illness condition.

Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy To treat PKD In China

In China, we use Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy to treat PKD. It is a conservative therapy without punctre or surgery. It can expand blood vessels, speed up blood circulation on cysts walls, and improve the permeability of the cysts. Therefore, the cyst liquid will be reabsorbed and discharged out with blood circulation thus making the cysts shrink and decrease. The active ingredients of Chinese medicine can also restrain the proliferation of renal epithelial cells until it stops secreting. When the internal pressure of the cyst declined, the size of the cyst will gradually become smaller, thus relieving the compression of the tissues around, improving microcirculation, and blocking the progressing of renal fibrosis. Besides, the cysts are not easy to recur after disappearance, and the symptoms will thoroughly disappear.
Maybe you heard of the Chinese Medicine (natural Chinese herbs) before. However, Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy is different from traditional Chinese herbal medicine. Here only a simple affix “Micro-“is added before it, but it means a lot improvement in treating kidney disease. Traditional Chinese herbs are oral medicine. Firstly, they burden the kidneys, because the kidney is the organ responsible for filtrating fluid. Secondly, most of Chinese herbs decoction is bitter to drink. Many patients cannot bear them. Lastly, the rate of sorption by kidneys is very low, for it arrives at renal lesions through many tracts, such as digestive tract and gastrointestinal tract.
Here, Chinese herbs are superfinely shattered into powder and packaged in a sack. When used, the sack should be soaked in the special penetrate for around two hours and then be heated for one hour or so. After all is ready, patients just need to lie in bed with two sacks attached to renal regions. What’s more, the sacks are connected with an osmosis device, the mechanism of which is to promote permeation of medicine by vibration indirectly controlled by electron pulse. In this way, the ingredients of Chinese medicine can efficiently permeate into the renal lesions, realizing the goal of treating kidney disease effectively. Patients would feel massaged during the treatment, very comfortable. Usually this treatment is given 2-3times every day and 45mins each time. Specifically speaking, Micro-Chinese Medicine can dilate blood vessels and decrease blood coagulation, thus improving blood circulation of kidneys. In addition, it can also decrease inflammatory reaction and degrade extra cell matrixes (ECM) both of which contribute to fibrosis of renal function. In this way, Micro-Chinese Medicine can effectively prevent fibrosis and thereby stop kidney disease from progressing.

How Does Micro Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy Treatment For Polycystic Kidney Disease

Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a disorder in which clusters of cysts develop primarily within your kidneys. Cysts are noncancerous round sacs containing water-like fluid.
Polycystic kidney disease isn't limited to your kidneys, although the kidneys usually are the most severely affected organs. The disease can cause cysts to develop in your liver and elsewhere in your body.
Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy has the curative effect for kidney disease, which can treat the kidney disease from root. (1)Chinese Medicine is abstracted from Chinese herbs, without any side-effect. (2) With the help of penetrant and osmosis devices, effective Chinese Medicine are penetrated into renal lesion by external application. (As you know, any oral taking medicines will affect kidney more or less). (3) The therapeutic mechanism of this therapy is to block the process of renal fibrosis, dilate blood vessels, promote the micro-blood circulation, repair the damaged renal intrinsic cells, and remove the stasis in channels. At the same time, Chinese Medicine has the effect like anti-inflammation, anti-coagulation, preventing blood viscosity and degrading extracellular matrixes. The main functions of Chinese Medicine are: block+ repair.
The Chinese medicine are micronized into one thousandths of its original size. With the action of the microwave, the medicine will permeate into the renal lesions directly through the skin and channels. Micro-Chinese Medicine can expand blood vessels, speed up blood circulation on cysts walls, and improve the permeability of the cysts thus making the cysts shrink and decrease. It will restrain the proliferation of the epithelial cells, so the secretion of cyst liquid will be reduced. The kidney function will also be better.

Polycystic Kidney Disease Causes

What causes PKD?
The pathological changes of PKD are: autosome dominant inheritance transformed the phenotype of the epithelial cells in nephridial tubule into epithelial cells in cyst wall. Constantly sac liquid made the cysts become bigger and bigger, and then the normal structure in the kidney be replaced by the cysts, the parclose function of glomerulus decreases as well as the concentration, reabsorption, regulation function in nephridial tubule. Therefore, we can find some signs such as protein and occult blood when we do routine urinalysis, and PKD is in fact a kind of Renal Tubular Epithelial Cell Disease.
What are the properties of PKD?
A typical character of PKD is its tendency of family gathering. As long as one of the parents has PKD, each child of them has 50% rate to have it. (But if you have examined that it isn’t this disease, then you need not worry about its transforming to this trend). Then how does PKD come occur? PKD is an inheritable disease which belongs to autosome dominant inheritance and develops progressively. Most of the patients are attacked in adulthood, and part of them may be accompanied by cysts and stones in liver.
Another remarkable character of PKD is abnormal proliferation in epithelial cells of nephridial tubule. When the phenotypes of the epithelial cells are transformed into epithelial cells in cyst wall, the secreted liquid by them will increase progressively while there is no way of excretion. With time passing by, the sac liquid gathers more and more, causing the volume of cysts increases and the capsular pressure rises as well as the surface tension of cysts. At this time, some sensitive patients may feel uncomfortable or acid swollerpain in their waist part. They may feel pain if part of the cysts is infected.

What You May Have After Getting Polycystic Kidney Disease

In the early stage of Polycystic Kidney Disease, the size of kidneys may be normal or slightly larger. As the patients grow older, their cysts increase and more and more cysts appear. For most of the cases, when cysts enlarge to considerable extend, a series of symptoms will appear.
Ⅰ. Renal enlargement. The size of two kidneys is different due to the inconformity of the development of renal cysts. In the end stage, kidneys take up the entire abdominal cavity. In kidneys, there are so many cysts, which make kidney show as irregular shape and when we touch kidney parts, we feel it hard.
Ⅱ. Kidneys pain has significant meaning for diagnose Polycystic Kidney Disease, which usually manifest as dull pain and pressure on the lower back, sometimes, this pain may show as sharp pain and bellyache. The exacerbation of Kidneys pain can result from physical activity, long time walking and sitting. A bed rest can relieve this pain. Beside, renal hemorrhage, stone move and renal infection all are the causes of sudden pain of kidneys.
Ⅲ. More than half of the patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease have microscopic hematuria, which result from the angiorrhexis of cyst wall. Blood clots can cause pain when they flow through ureter. Hematuria is usually accompanied by proteinuria and leucocyturia, and during this period, urine protein is less than one gram per day. As the occurance of renal infection, pyuria and hematuria aggravate, meanwhile lower back pain is accompanied by fever.
Ⅳ. High blood pressure is the common performance of Autosomal Dominantl Polycystic Kidney Disease. Before the increase of serum creatinine, about half of patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease have high blood pressure. The occurance of high blood pressure among patients with Chronic Kidney Disease affects the prognosis of Polycystic Kidney Disease directly, that means if patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease have high blood pressure, their cysts will grow fast and this has a bad influence on the prognosis of Polycystic Kidney Disease.
Ⅴ. Renal insufficiency is inevitable for patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease and it seldom appears before patients younger than forty. About half of the patients who are seventy years old have renal function. however, if high blood pressure appears in patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease, then the process developing to renal failure will be shortened.
Ⅵ. Polycystic liver. The incidence of Polycystic Liver among patients who have been found with Autosomal Dominantl Polycystic Kidney Disease in their middle age is fifty percent. The appearance of Polycystic Liver is usually ten years later than Polycystic Kidney Disease.

What Are Causes Of Swollen Kidney

Causes Of Swollen Kidney
The kidneys play an important function in the urinary system. The kidneys are responsible in the reabsorption of glucose, water, and amino acids, substances that are essential to the body. Indeed, having a swollen kidney means there is an inflammation of the kidney which may indicate a serious kidney failure.
Causes Of  Swollen Kidney
The following causes of Enlarged kidneys are diseases or conditions that affect more than 200,000 people :
1. Polycystic Kidney Disease
A genetic disorder known as polycystic kidney disease causes multiple cysts to grow in the kidneys. The cysts destroy normal kidney tissue, leading to enlargement of the kidneys. The Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center explains that this condition is a congenital defect in the chromosomes, which has a 50 percent risk of being passed to offspring when present in one parent. Adults with one dominant polycystic kidney gene experience onset of symptoms after 30 years of age. Symptoms include pressure in the abdomen from swollen kidneys, back pain and fatigue.
2. Glomerulonephritis
Glomeruli are tiny filters in the kidneys that connect to tubules. The combination of glumeruli and tubules make up a nephron, which is the basin functioning unit of the kidney. They function to filter the blood and return to the circulation substances such as protein, sugars, and other important nontoxic materials necessary for the bodily functions. Once the glomeruli are infected with bacteria or virus, it will cause inflammation; and once it affects quite a lot of them already, it will lead to marked inflammation of the kidney, causing the kidney to swell.
3. Hydronephrosis
Unilateral hydronephrosis refers to one enlarged kidney that is swollen due to backed up urine. If both kidneys are swollen the condition is known as bilateral hydronephrosis. Generally, these conditions occur as a result of another problem with the kidneys which prevents urine from entering into the bladder and therefore backing up in the kidneys. An obstruction can be a possible reason for this occurrence. For this reason, in addition to kidneyenlargement, an abdominal mass can sometimes be present in an individual with this condition.
4. Other Causes Of Enlarged kidneys
Kidney infection
Malignancies of the bladder, kidney, prostate, and other surrounding structures
Damage to the blood vessels that carries blood to and away from the kidneys

Homeopathy And PKD

Polycystic kidney disease is a cystic genetic disorder of thekidneys. There are two types of PKD: autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease and the less-common autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ARPKD).
PKD is characterized by the presence of multiple cysts typically in both kidneys; however 17% of cases initially present with observable disease in one kidney, with most cases progressing to bilateral disease in adulthood. The cysts are numerous and are fluid-filled, resulting in massive enlargement of the kidneys. The disease can also damage the liver, pancreas and, in some rare cases, the heart and brain. The two major forms of polycystic kidney disease are distinguished by their patterns of inheritance.
When Polycystic kidney disease causes kidneys to fail—which usually happens after many years—the patient requires dialysis or kidney transplantation. About one-half of people with the most common type of Polycystic kidney disease progress to kidney failure, also called end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
Treatment Polycystic Kidney Disease With Homeopathy
Homeopathy treats the person as a whole. It means that homeopathic treatment focuses on the patient as a person, as well as his pathological condition. The homeopathic medicines are selected after a full individualizing examination and case-analysis, which includes the medical history of the patient, physical and mental constitution etc. A miasmatic tendency (predisposition/susceptibility) is also often taken into account for the treatment of chronic conditions. The medicines given below indicate the therapeutic affinity but this is not a complete and definite guide to the treatment of this condition. The symptoms listed against each medicine may not be directly related to this disease because in homeopathy general symptoms and constitutional indications are also taken into account for selecting a remedy. To study any of the following remedies in more detail, please visit our Materia Medica section. None of these medicines should be taken without professional advice.

Polycystic Kidney Disease and Pregnancy Story

Hi! I am so happy to see another person here who has PKD like me. I learned I had PKD when I was 19 through an ultrasound preformed on my kidneys. I received it through my mom's side of the family.
I am currently in my second pregnancy. My first pregnancy was rough. I developed pre eclampsia early on in the second trimestor (around 16 weeks). I had to deliver by c-section at 31 weeks due to the protien in the urine amounting to 17g.
I personally blame myself for this because I did not go see my nephrologist until much later on in the pregnancy and chose to let the OB moniter the blood pressure. My reasoning for this at the time was that I found the Nephrology office a little creepy. You never see another healthy looking person in there, but I guess thats because they see the sicker patients more often then those in the beginning stage.
Anyway to get back on topic. After my first pregnancy the high blood pressure stayed as well as the protien leaking in the urine; although the amount has greatly reduced to 100mg. (I am told that even a normal healthy person may pass that much at some point or another) At first I saw my nephrologist every month, and then when the protein started dropping to normal levels, I saw him every 3 months for a while. Now, I am back to seeing him once a year.
I was a little nervous going into my second pregnancy, and my mother didnt help matters because she is against it claiming that I nearly died with the first one. (Both OB and Nephrologist have assured me that that was not the case) She has even went as far as telling me that I was crazy for not getting a tubal litgation immediatly after my first, and of course she also claimed that breastfeeding my baby was bad for my health, which made me feel more sad when I couldnt breastfeed beyond 3 months. I had no encouragement, high blood pressure problems, and postpartum depression. (Dont get discouraged if you get negative comments, especially ones made from ignorance.)
So I am now in my second pregnancy, and everything is moving smoothly. Knock on wood! Protien is low, and blood pressure is under control. My nephrologist has prescribed a little extra more then the actual dosage I take so that if the blood pressure did run a little high due to eating a higher salt food item, I dont run out of medicine before the end of the month. He has taught me how to moniter it and when it does become high, how much extra I can take to help control it. But so far I have enjoyed this pregnancy and its lack of complications. I am looking forward to delivering a healthy baby girl by October.

How Does Chinese Medicine Herbs Treatment For Polycystic Kidney Disease(PKD)

Polycystic kidney disease is an inherited kidney disorder that enlarges the kidneys and interferes with their function because of multiple cysts on the kidneys.
People with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) usually feel or have symptoms when they are more than 30 years old. In western countries, they often use puncture or LRCD, etc to treat Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). However, the effect is not so satisfactory. Is there a brand new method which can achieve a better treatment? In this passage, doctors in Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital will introduce stem cell transplant, which has proved to have treated thousands of patients. How does chinese medicine roles in treating Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD).
As we know, the pathogenesis of Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is due to the transformation of renal tubular endothelial cell. When the cysts are small, they can not press the renal parenchyma, and cause any threat. However, with time going, cysts will grow, which leads to squeeze on renal tissues and renal blood vessels, thus causing obstruction in partial micro-circulation. Consequently, the insufficiency of blood and oxygen will take place. Then, endothelial cell of blood capillaries will be damaged, which attracts the inflammatory cell infiltration. Infiltration accelerates the renal glomerular partial inflammatory reaction.
Micro-Chinese Medicine can expand the blood vessels on the face of cysts, accelerate the blood circulation, promote the permeability of cyst wall, then the sac liquid can flow out through the cyst wall with the blood circulation. In this way, cysts will be narrowed. However, how to prevent the appearance of new cysts?
Micro-Chinese Medicine has functions in repairing damaged kidneys, thus recovering kidney functions. After kidney functions have been improved, the toxins, excessive fluid and sac liquid will be eliminated with the urine. So, we can prevent the sac liquid flow into cysts, thus preventing the appearing of new cysts and the enlargement of small cysts as well.

Top 6 Symptoms of Polycystic Kidney Disease

Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is a kind of genetic disease which is quite common in clinic. It refers to the numerous cysts in both kidneys which are fluid-filled and distribute symmetrically. In order to have proper precaution in advance, it is important for everyone to know more about Polycystic Kidney Disease and especially its common symptoms.
☆ Swelling in kidney.
The disease condition of both kidney differs from each other. The two kidneys will have different sizes and they can occupy all the space in abdomen in the later period of the disease. There are many cysts in the kidney, so the kidney will have irregular shapes and a hard texture.
☆ Pain in renal region.
Usually the sufferers will have pressed feeling and dull pain in loin or abdomen. The pain will appear or aggravate after hard work, long-time walking and sitting, and it will release after a rest in bed.
☆ Hematuria.
About half of the sufferers will have microscopic hematuria, and sometimes it is gross hematuria. Hematuria is caused by the rupture of blood vessels in cysts' wall, and it is always accompanied with proteinuria, but the volume of urinary protein is small (<1.0g/d). Besides, the pyuria will be obvious when there is infection in the kidney.
☆ Hypertension.
Before the increase of serum creatinine, half of sufferers will have Hypertension. It is related to the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). Hypertension will have influence on the prognosis of sufferers with renal cysts.
☆ Renal insufficiency.
Generally speaking, only a few people can have renal insufficiency in the age younger than 40, and about half of the sufferers with PKD will retain their renal function at the age of 70. However, in some cases, the sufferers will deteriorate into renal failure during the adolescence.
☆ Polycystic Liver.
People who are diagnosed as ADPKD in their middle ages are usually accompanied with Polycystic Liver. Generally speaking, polycystic liver will appear 10 years later after PKD. Besides, sometimes there may be cysts in pancreas and ovary as well.
There are all the common symptoms of Polycystic Kidney Disease. I hope all the information above can be helpful for you. PKD is a genetic disease, so if you have the familial history of PKD, you should have examinations regularly. As long as you have some clinical symptoms, you had better go and see a doctor in order to have a proper treatment in time.
